Working with Pastors

Working with and encouraging pastors to grow the church.

One of the focuses of Nuru Ya Mapendo is working with and encouraging pastors to grow the church. This may include providing resources, and supplemental training through David’s House. We’ve also rebuilt or replaced most of the church buildings in the district over the past 10 years.

David’s House is a District Training and Resource Center serving both arms of the Nuru Ya Mapendo ministry- sustainable agriculture and animal production practices, and the growth and development of the Church within the District.

David’s House contains a reception area, library with computer/printer, classrooms, and large conference room which also serves as a large classroom. Projection equipment is available.
In the Kasenga District, pastors earn only $10-18 per month from the church and must find other ways to supplement income in order to meet the needs of their family, usually agriculture. David’s House provides pastors with the resources they need such as a Bibles and other preaching/teaching helps such as dictionaries, commentaries, atlas, study notes, etc. They also have access to a computer and printer.

David’s House is centrally located where residents can travel to receive training in sustainable practices related to animal and crop production. A goat, for example, can require up to 3 months income to purchase. In order to protect their investment, they must have proper knowledge of husbandry, shelter, feeding, forage, reproduction, health care, milking and/or marketing. Classes will introduce new crops for improved health and well-being such as amaranth, moringa and neem. We will also introduce multi-purpose plants suitable for growing in tropical climates such as lab-lab and chaya from Mexico. Reference material used for classes is also available in the library.
