About Us
Nuru Ya Mapendo is Swahili and translates “Love’s Light”, a holistic ministry to people of the District of Kasenga, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Africa. We model Jesus, who first met people’s physical needs and then ministered to them spiritually. The ministry embraces and teaches sustainable growth practices related to food and animal production in order to improve quality of life, while also ministering to the spiritual needs of the recipients. The ministry comes alongside the Kasenga District of the United Methodist Church to support and encourage pastors, to share the Good News, disciple new believers and to grow the Kingdom of God.
Our Vision
Our vision is for Nuru Ya Mapendo, “Love’s Light”, to transform the District of Kasenga through a holistic ministry modeling Jesus’ approach of first meeting physical needs and then ministering spiritually. By embracing sustainable agriculture and sharing skills, we aim to improve lives while growing God’s Kingdom through pastoral support, evangelism, disciplement and spiritual nourishment. May all discover their gifts through the Spirit to spread Christ’s love locally and globally in a grace-filled environment where people of all backgrounds feel loved, respected and empowered.
Our Mission
The mission of Nuru Ya Mapendo, meaning “Love’s Light”, is to model Jesus by meeting physical needs in Kasenga, DRC and ministering spiritually. Through sustainable agriculture and spiritual nourishment, we aim to improve lives while supporting pastors as they share the Good News, make disciples and grow God’s Kingdom. It is our mission to cultivate a grace-filled community where the Holy Spirit empowers all to discover and share God’s love locally and globally, as each person is loved, respected and celebrated for who they are.
